Jarkko Hietanen is a composer for film, video game and other media. Residing in Finland he works from his home town of Tampere where he creates anything from moody atmospheres, big cinematic soundscapes, intriguing electronic compositions or suspenseful background music to more traditional sounding orchestral film scores. Jarkko Hietanen has been composing music electronically from early 1999. He has explored sounds from electronica to orchestral, from chill-out and down-tempo to game and cinematic music. Variety has always been important to him and never has he passed on a chance to try out fresh and new approaches in his music.
At an early point in his attempts to become an electronic musician he founded a project called "Yasahi". The genres he explored during those years were more underground and experimental. In time however Jarkko's fascination towards ambient music grew larger and eventually it led him to the path of cinematic sounds.
Later Jarkko applied in an academy focusing on TV and Film, and took the chance to dedicate himself fully to sound and music. During these studies he received offers for short film and advertisement scoring. Needless to say, this was exactly what he had hoped for and quickly started seeing himself doing this for a long time to come.
Since then Jarkko has released an album, been composing for various projects such as a feature film, plenty of short films, mini series, a few games, TV commercials, corporate videos, trailers and virtual sample libraries and on occasions has had the pleasure to work as a sound designer and an audio beta tester for certain projects.
Today Jarkko continues to experiment with fresh sounds and new styles, and always actively seeks out new projects to work on.
